Who We Are

Passo is a roadbook app for leisure driving. You can contact us about this policy or your data at hello@passo.app.

Information We Collect

We collect the information needed to create your account, record a drive, process it into a Roadbook, and let you share the parts you choose.

Account details: email address, authentication identifiers, session details, and basic profile information.
Drive and location data: GPS trace points, timestamps, altitude, accuracy, heading, speed if supplied by the device location provider, device location source, and background recording status where you have granted permission.
Roadbook content: Drive Recordings, Trace Chunks, route details, stops, notes, terrain and road character selections, Roadbook titles, descriptions, visibility settings, and Journey Card assets.
Photos: images you choose to add to Roadbooks, optional photo captions, thumbnails, and optional photo location or capture-time details when available from the content you provide.
Device and diagnostic data: app version, build profile, backend region, error reports, crash diagnostics, and limited event breadcrumbs that help us understand failures during testing.
Preferences and subscription status: settings such as distance units and, where enabled, purchase or entitlement status used to unlock paid features.
Waitlist details: email address and form details you submit when requesting early access from the website.

Location and Background Recording

Passo requests location permission so it can record a scenic drive and turn the raw trace into a draft Roadbook. If you allow background location, Passo can continue recording while the app is not on screen. You can change location permissions at any time in your device settings.

Location traces can be sensitive because they may reveal where a drive started, where it ended, and places visited along the way. Draft Roadbooks and raw trace data are private to your account unless you choose to publish or share them.

How We Use Information

To create and secure your Passo account.
To record drives, upload Trace Chunks, and process route data.
To detect useful stops and create draft Roadbooks.
To store and display Roadbooks, photos, and Journey Cards.
To sync your content between the mobile app and the web app.
To provide tester support, debug failures, and improve reliability.
To manage preferences, entitlements, and app access.
To operate the waitlist and send early-access updates.

Passo is not designed to publish speed history, leaderboards, or competitive driving data.

Sharing and Visibility

Roadbooks begin as private content. If you publish a Roadbook, generate a Journey Card, make it public, or share a public link, people with access to that link may see the Roadbook details you have chosen to include, such as title, description, photos, route summary, stops, and vehicle details attached to the Roadbook.

Please avoid publishing sensitive home, workplace, or private-location details. You remain responsible for the content you choose to share.

Service Providers

We use trusted providers to run Passo, including backend hosting, database, storage, authentication, payment-entitlement tooling, mapping, email, website analytics, and crash-reporting services. These providers process data for Passo so the app can work, stay secure, and be improved during testing.

Passo currently uses infrastructure configured in European regions where practical, including Nhost in eu-west-2 and Sentry's European ingest for crash reporting.

Retention and Deletion

We keep account and Roadbook data for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, and support testing. During the current testing period, you can ask us to delete your account, recordings, trace chunks, photos, or Roadbooks by emailing hello@passo.app. You can also read the dedicated account deletion instructions.

Some diagnostic records, backups, or legal records may remain for a limited period after deletion, but we will not keep them longer than necessary.

Your Choices

You can choose whether to grant precise and background location access.
You can choose whether to add photos to a Roadbook.
You can keep Roadbooks private or publish/share them when ready.
You can contact us to request access, correction, export, or deletion.
You can unsubscribe from early-access emails by contacting us.

Security

We use authentication, access controls, encrypted transport, and operational safeguards to protect Passo data. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, so please take care with what you record, upload, and share.

Children

Passo is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy as Passo develops. When we do, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or on the site.
